The International Day of Older Persons of the Planet was approved by the UN on 1 October. And since 1991 it is proposed to spend this day around the world. We decided to hold it for the first time in Strasbourg with our partners, compatriots and colleagues in France.
October 1 is the day of the elderly due to the fact that Stuttgart, where we live today, is a sister city of Strasbourg in France, we will be visiting our Russian compatriots and French colleagues in Strasbourg.
This is all thanks to the hospitality of the "Russian House of Strasbourg" and its leader Alla Vasilievna Sizova with the support of Valery Borisovich Levitsky, Consul General of the Russian Federation in France, in Strasbourg.
The International Day of Older Persons (International Day for the Elderly) (in other official languages of the United Nations: English International Day of Older Persons, Día Internacional de las Personas de Edad is in French, Journée internationale pour les personnes âgées) since 1991. Was proclaimed at the 45th session of the UN General Assembly (Resolution No. A / RES / 45/106 of 14 December 1990), entitled International Day of the Elderly. In the future, the Russian-language documents of the United Nations adopted the name International Day of Older Persons.
The resolution notes a decrease in contributions to the UN Trust Fund on Aging, recognizes the rapid aging of the world's population, recognizes that older people are able to make a significant contribution to the development process. The General Assembly encouraged Governments and non-governmental organizations to contribute to the Trust Fund on Aging. Thus, we offer all comers, make their charitable contributions to the account of the charitable foundation "Our New Times" in Stuttgart. The collected funds will be used for charitable events, during which we pay special attention to the attitude towards the older generation.
Representatives of the older generation for us are, of course, our veterans, participants in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45. and especially the Blocadniki. We invited them to take part in the first such event in Europe, which we prepared with our Russian compatriots living in France today - in Strasbourg.
October 1 will be held "Day of the Elderly" in Europe, for the first time - in Strasbourg.
